Hawaii is a land that’s rich in history, culture and pride, and from this land comes some of the best coffee in the world. It’s the only state in America which is able to grow and harvest coffee commercially, and many coffee drinkers can instantly recognize and pinpoint a Kona blend as they order coffee online. The earliest recorded cultivation of coffee beans on Hawaiian soail dates back to 1813, as recorded in a journal from Don Francisco de Paula y Marin, who made trips to the island from his native Spain in the late 1700 to 1800s. In his journal, he mentioned that he planted coffee seeds on O’ahu. Other explorers made attempts at planting more mature coffee bushes, and finally in the mid 1800s, commercial production of coffee on the island of Kaua’i began.
