Even though the worst of the recession is over, for many parents there is a lingering insecurity with regard to the economy. According to surveys, the expectation is these insecurities will cause back-to-school shopping for the coming academic year to be flat compared to 2010. This may not bode well as some analysts see back-to-school shopping as predictor for the winter holiday shopping season.
