The human mind needs shortcuts to simplify the environment and make sense of the world. When these shortcuts are limited to this, however, it might be problematic. This is, certainly, an overly-simplified/exaggerated way of expressing the “generally held” perceptions. And yet, these are also images that nations have to counter: after all, nation branding is all about images and “first things that come to mind.”
